49. 14. 8.

She sat in her chair over looking the porch... trying to count the rain drops... Legs crossed at the ankles.

49. 14. 8.

After a while she grabbed Minnie Mouse and sat her down in the small blue chair beside her..... Every once in a while she would look over and smile at her.

So happy. Rain wet, she'd intensely say with excitement to Minnie.

I sat there on the couch.... watching her... intently. My hair was in a messy bun and I was pulling on my eye lashes as the tears welled up.

49. 14. 8.

She counted each drop.

She'd turn around to make sure that I was watching her and she'd smile.

The rosy parts of her cheeks would raise up into her little blonde curls when she smiled at me.

Her eye lashes were much prettier than mine, I always wondered what it would be like to have lashes touch my cheeks like hers.

To have curls so perfect.

To have eyes as blue as hers.

49. 14. 8.

She kept counting. At this point she was holding Minnie Mouse and rocking her back and forth.

She began singing...

Happy day. Happy day to you. Happy day to you Minnie Mouse.

She spun around and grinned at me swaying back and forth with Minnie Mouse.

I sat there on the couch with the tv off and just watched her... I wasn't thinking about making breakfast or getting ready. I just watched her.

Blonde ringlet curls... cheeks with the perfect shade of rose....

I always wondered what it would be like.... to be a mom.

And it's easy to forget... what it actually feels like.... with the ins and outs of an every day routine.... the busyness of life.

It's easy to forget what it 'truly' feels like.

It's rain drops... and a room without the tv on.

It's happy songs and pulling an extra chair over for Minnie Mouse.

It's 49. 14. 8.

It's numbers that make no sense... that make the most sense of all.
