y sweet little Bean... people told me that you would change things... between the laughs and the warnings I could tell the context was along the lines of ruining my life... that YOU would ruin my life. 
 
They told me I wouldn't sleep... and that I'd never have my body back. 
 
Some even wished 'ill' on my body. 
 
They told me that my marriage might suffer and that we'd never have any time together. 
 
Between their warnings and the laughs... I could tell that they had a rough go at 'it'... 
 
That made me sad... that their go at being a parent wasn't joyful.... at least not joyful enough to wish me well...  
 
Not joyful enough to warn me that every night that you decide not to sleep... you're squeezing my cheeks and pointing at my lips and leaning in for kisses instead... 
 
They didn't warn me that midnight kisses could ever be so sweet. 
 
They did have one thing right though... that you would change me. 
 
That you would change me so completely... that sometimes I don't even recognize myself. 
 
I know I've said it before... but you make me better. 
 
You truly .... truly .... do 
 
Your squinting eyes - your contagious smile - the sweet way you hug me...  
 
I am a better woman because of you.
