Sarah: I've been reading posts like this lately and I've truly asked myself what I want to do. And I've realized some things.
1. Getting a migraine at a wedding probably isn't a good sign that wedding photography is in my future.
2. Feeling flustered when taking family portraits while kids are running around like crazy and will listen to neither their parents nor me is just as bad a sign.
3. Smiling so hard my cheeks go numb when in the middle of editing an engagement or portrait session means I should probably 'specialize' in just that.
It's pretty easy. The hard part is not getting enough business for it and having to continue taking those stressful weddings and family shoots. I mean, don't get me wrong. I love capturing it all. I love seeing my bride and groom beam at the sight of their photos after the wedding. But perhaps in a couple years I won't want to do them anymore. We shall see! :)
