jamie: Great article...I would add that you also have to invest a huge amount of time in learning the BIZ side of things! As well as being part psychologist and getting people to pose/move how you want them to! Very cute picture there as well! :)  March 12, 2013 at 3:50 PM
Shelby: Whether your area requires a license or not, you MUST find out what the sales tax requirements are for your state and municipality. Here in Texas, you must report and collect tax on all sales, no matter how small.  March 11, 2013 at 8:18 PM
Alie: Same for the state of WV. I was told to not even bother with a license until after the first year or two, unless by chance you're making more than $5,000. But with photography it usually takes at least 2 years to really become established and grow anyways.  March 11, 2013 at 3:58 PM
Sarah: I spoke with our tax guy recently and he told me that if I'm making under a certain amount per year I don't have to worry about paying for a business license. But that as soon as I do go over that amount, I need to get one. In the state of Virginia, it's $5,000, he said.  March 11, 2013 at 3:47 PM
