I don't just talk about how photographers should continue learning, growing and investing in their education as photographers... I actually do those things myself!!! Every year I try to take at least one or two workshops - and I am constantly watching...  View This Post >

tarting out in this industry is hard.... it's hard as hell. and I remember when I first started -- I genuinely had NO idea what I was doing. I started taking people's money, because I thought it was AMAZING that someone was paying me to take their pictures!!!! I wasn't really running a business, I was operating a lemonade stand. I wish someone would have sat me down and told me...  View This Post >

've said it so many times before, and I know I sound like a broken-record but mentoring sessions are so incredible to me. I get to spend all day with a photographer and share any and everything... We end up talking about life -- our dreams and of course, photography. I feel like I walk away with new friends after each session. And honestly, I feel like I learn new things each time...  View This Post >

Let me challenge you to really self-analyze today. I want you to ask yourself these questions.... 1) What photos have I taken that make me the MOST excited?! 2) What kind of photographers do I love...  View This Post >

"Why did Sharon even get a studio space...." "I heard she's not quite a professional yet." "So I hear that Sharon owns a nice camera and thinks she's a photographer now." "Sharon is too...  View This Post >

et's get real... The myths of starting a photography business... and the actual realities of starting a photography business.. Myth: You must own a nice camera. Reality: You must know how to OPERATE a 'nice' camera and know its limitations. Myth: You must know how to edit your photos. Reality: Knowing PS/LR is beneficial, but you must know how to produce great images...  View This Post >
